i running update , upgrade on 6 month old jessie sd card , receiving masses , masses of stuff never need, not mention time taking. prime examples libreoffice, wolfram-engine, , mathematica.
there way exclude these things ?
don't want start new image because there lot of config things on existing cards struggle repeat, such making them hot-spots etc.
2 hours later , still running: ok, can remove stuff, make copies of card, next time do ?
many can this, none of google searches have yielded anything.

sudo apt-get purge ...
rid of them , won't updates.
