hello,
i planning design cleaning robot try achieve 90% floor coverage of defined area. issue have decided robot should follow spiral pattern making co-centric circles starting wall perimeter towards center, how approach use of ir , ultrasonic sensor question. instance robot can follow along walls of rooms , come same place began , continue same how distinguish needs move towards center.

unless have circular room, spiral not reach 90% of floor!
straight lines easier. use 1 wall datum. after each length of wall, move away 1 width of robot. repeat until hit opposite wall. ultrasonic detectors tell how far away wall are.
