Setting intital data in Workspace embedded Flex Application

i created 2 processes, 1 has embedded flex application in it. first process has output of type xml passed 2nd process using events. have attached event message template event can drill down data schema. able receive , see xml data in receiving process. flex application set data type form , has own schema associated. trying using setvalue service set of values in flex schema values of xml data received first process.
my flex application has "initialdatahandler" function receives dataevent event lc workspace. using setvalue service , drilling down schema doesn't seem set dataevent event data of flex app.
does have ideas on how set initial data of flex app data pre-populated when user opens application?
