with school in session, i've wanted build detector warn me kids school bus starting through our neighborhood. give heads leave house , head bus stop. useful on cold , rainy days!
my idea mount small box/fake bird house on side of road. detect bus during time window (to conserve battery). using gsm shield, send text alert.
i struggling sensor use. not busy street. thinking of way @ height of vehicle passing. maybe?
other ideas be:
acoustic frequency sensor sound of bus
motion activated camera color detection (look bus color)
i realize ask bus driver throw tracker in glovebox, or have 9yr old stick tracker under seat. i'm not thrilled options b/c school property, etc.
so think? in advance advice!

if don't lot of big trucks through neighborhood, laser trip line @ right height catch bus , miss cars , trucks. need able mount stuff on both sides of road. @ least reflector on 1 side.
