Thread: Network manager vpn auto-reconnect script

hi
i'm quite annoyed way vpn seams behave. no matter os or vpn provider try - seam disconnected after while.

have heard other "real" people forums posts , many seam have experienced same thing. dosen't matter os or vpn-provider.

have tried ubuntu (jaunty-32/karmic-64), mac osx 10.5.x, , "other os" (name starts win).

i've tried both openvpn , pptp. (openvpn in linux)

, seams disconnect after couple of hours. (sometimes minutes). might because of server-load or "kick-rule" people use allot of bandwidth. or bug.

don't care if vpn disconnects. it's not big deal. because can click on network-manager , choose reconnect vpn-connection. no harm done.
sets me 3 seconds.

although problems arise when i'm away computer.
there doesn't seam "auto-reconnect on disconnect" option anywhere.

thought... if find/make script me!
script checks every other minute if i'm connected vpn , when i'm not, reconnects me.

don't know scripting vpn-connections. have done through network-manager or there other apps? , how can verify if i'm connected vpn?

have scripting experience. none in area. wanna out?

im having same problem, love see auto-reconnect option on network manager!
