Thread: Switched ZTE MF626 still not connected

i have t-mobile uk, zte mf626. ubuntu 8.04 on toshiba nb100.

i've managed change mode usb storage modem. lsusb shows 19d2:0x0031
... don't know now. i've read many posts , tryed several of suggested ways connected (udev + hal, subserial ...). new ubuntu , appreciate next step.

have latest version of modeswitch on desktop , i've altered .conf file

usb modem light goes blue/green (always static light, never flashing) not showing t-mobile uk option in network manager.

[i'm running karmic koala 9.10 command locations may little different]

1. have network manager installed? can check opening synaptic (system -> administration -> synaptic package manager) , searching network-manager.

2. if don't have installed, connect internet (using ethernet/wireless) , reload synaptic package list (click on blue reload symbol @ top left of synaptic screen), search again network-manager, right click entry in list , choose 'mark installation', click green 'apply' symbol. synaptic download network-manager plus dependencies, , install you.

3. presuming have network manager, have created t-mobile connection? going to:

system -> preferences -> network connections -> mobile broadband tab -> add

t-mobile (uk) settings inserted automagically network-manager after run through wizard pops up.
