Laser Engraver

i use little direction on laser engraver project. far setup have rp2 running arduino software controlling arduino mega 2560 controller has adafruit gshield stepper motor controller. i'm hanging laser , how control it. found 2 watt laser (link below) i'm wanting use. i've got correct driver , durable enough heat sink laser run continuously. reading other projects keep hearing controlling laser ttl i'm not familiar with. or there way can have arduino mega send simple enable command when laser needs turn on?

so want build laser engraver, need 3d or 2d?
a simple 1 use 2x step motors , drivers, programming them arduino , using interface
software see dimensions, inserting 1:1 scale image , start engrave, of curse need
make software interface able send axe data arduino , controlling power of laser
depending material using.

i don't see hard here, more hard if 3d printer
