Thread: Problems with Karmic upgrade

since upgrading karmic, ve had problems logging on.

log on page, enter password , after hit enter ubuntu screen comes while blank screen then...the ubuntu screen comes , goes log on page , enter password, blank screen, ubuntu screen, enter password etc etc etc.

while fan doing best imitate jet aircraft powering , powering down engines. after 20 minutes of going , putting hibernate or suspend or restarting several times, let me in. fan jet engine @ full throttle impression, whilst system monitor shows both cpus @ full usage.

in system monitor gnome-panel entries (about 8 of em) running. cancel them , shuts fan , cpu returns normal running. happened 3 days, there update after 4 days , seemed well.

today happened again-after half hour trying log on, access, stopping gnome-panels removed bottom panel , wont come if restart process. cant bookmarks, edit, view etc in firefox , fan , cpu keep cutting in , out every couple of seconds, m doing using firefox. , cant left click either...help!
