Menu Mods not showing up in second template - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support

hi folks.  i've created personal website using joomla 1.0 public photo gallery , private photo gallery. 

for public side, using d4j greenery template , expose4 gallery component
for private side, using d4j black box template , coppermine gallery component

i want display main menu , user menu on both templates.  main (greenery) template places menu components in right module.  black box template doesn't use right module.  instead, place menus in user3 , user4 modules - modules first (greenery) template not use.

what did this:
- assign black box template coppermine component menu item
- create copy of both user menu , main menu
- renamed copied menu modules , assigned them user3 , user4 respectively   
- assigned renamed menu modules display on private gallery menu link

this should work - it's not.  registered member can access private component gallery, not see of assigned mods template / page.  unregistered member can't see component, (it displays "not authorized view resource" component should be) great, of assigned mods show - unregistered member.

i'm sure simple thing i'm missing.  when run component in first template (greenery) of proper mods show up.  it's odd none of assigned mods showing same component in different template.

any ideas?  thanks!
