Run Retropie from desktop - Raspberry Pi Forums

hello everyone. i've been solving issue quite while, , out of ideas.
want: want able boot pi desktop , able switch emulationstation using mouse (actually it's touchscreen, there's not of difference), without typing commands, somehow.

i've tried: have written simple watchdog script gets run @ boot , checks if file (/home/pi/startemu) contains "1". if does, kills x, launches emulationstation, changes 1 0. script, in desktop writes 1 file when executed. , works. sorta. emulationstation launches, desktop closes, when try launch rom, screen blinks couple times , returned emulationstation menu. guessing because emu-station got launched outside active console (/dev/tty1) , thus, emulators try launch wherever watchdog script runs, , fail.
have tried launch emustation script inside x killed x , launched emustation, did not work, obvious reasons (script stops working x closed, since it's running inside x), dead end.

have idea how make work? open other solutins well, long allow me launch emulationstation using touchscreen

thats easy, install retropie, set in emulation station settings once installed 'do not auto boot'
write simple shell script link run desktop can 'click' on start emulation station.
