the joomla-based website of adams street shul @ http://www.adamsstreet.org. historic synagogue listed on national register of historic places , site includes on-line historical tour.
this first joomla site. developed site long, long ago in html/css/javascript. couple of years ago, migrated php, , wrote scripts enable volunteers maintain of content. few months ago, migrated joomla enable volunteers maintain content without me, , free me of development work. write simple modules or tweak other people's modules need. it's heaven. hearty unsung heros have built joomla system , wide world of extensions.
much of adams street shul's site --- including fireboard-based forums iddeim private messaging , cb integration, docman document distribution (such meeting minutes), easyfaq system, fun stuff on community builder tabs, sms text messaging (with subscriptions various classes of sms notices controlled users via cb fields), etc. --- in members-only portion of site. there's still plenty of public stuff browse.
i have added cms open realty module enable local landlords post rentals on membership page of site, , sobi2 in guise of web-site sponsors directory. both features still hidden because don't want roll them out publicly until our volunteers have got core group of listings signed start with. (we don't want begin publishing them empty.)
not sure what's next, joomla it's easy add components/modules find them if 1 sparks idea.
