Guidance on pull down blind opening robot - Raspberry Pi Forums


hi everyone,

new robotics, software developer trade, came across forum while searching on how complete project, still require advice, can't seem find project has incorporated want do.

have roman shade blinds below, controlled string pulled down, looped round fixture in wall hold blinds in place @ top of window.

build small robot contained in box sit on windowsill, , pull string down open window, kind of winch.

here come challenges.

control robot smartphone, using slider ui component, can open blinds 0% of way 50% 100% etc. light sensor, open , close them automatically, future!

i'd advice on few things.
1. motor best use task? need 1 strong enough pull string down , winch around spindle of sorts. string requires no more 2kg of force pull down. need motor "lock" in way when have blind open, not using power hold in position. if motor can near silent bonus, although once it's enclosed in container, noise should muffled.

2. easiest in terms of connectivity? bluetooth module, wi-fi module?
not want blind rely on computer being turned on relay commands , phone. ideally i'd direct connection phone.

3. possible connect mains power, not need rely on batteries?

4. above done solely arduino? or best use raspberry pi? or combine two?

i'm sure i've missed key questions ask, i'm kind of tired right now!

sorry these questions, there information on net, , after several days of searching, feel need push in right direction.

i'm not looking step step per say, idea of equipment should buy task, i'd want put myself. don't want buy wrong stuff , waste lots of money.
