Thread: no sound in kubuntu with pulseaudio

some help, please: after install kubuntu, install packages in order have gnome desktop enviromment too..


gnome needs pulseaudio sound so, when install gnome-core, install pulseaudio, dependency


but, when pulseaudio installed, have no sound in kde... obvious solution uninstall pulseaudio , everythingreturn normal, except fact that, when remove pulseaudio, removes applet (in gnome) panel change volume


question: have have applet back?




(i use kubuntu 9.10, x64 edition)

get rid of pulseaudio. when in rome, err, gnome, use alsamixergui package or other mixer isn't dependent on pulse. can use xfce4-mixer if don't mind xfce packages being installed.

edit: there might setting in kde system settings use or "prefer" alsa if want keep pulse gnome.
