what best choice of usb-hub 3 hdds using 5 watts total +/- 1 watt rpi3?
bought d-link , 1 port broke yesterday, cost me 25 euro 2 months ago
bought 1½-2 years ago perhaps 10 , works fine don't know brand/maker
can build 1 myself, power hdds separably , have signals separably?
mean signal rpi3 usb 1,2,3 hdd 1,2,3 power external usbpower source, simple soldering...

the specification pi3b 2.4a psu. 1a *might* run it, no guarentees, , won't able power attached pi. hubs....the spec usb 2 provide 500ma each port. if 4-port hub comes psu rated @ less 2a, reject out of hand. 1 comes psu on 2a, since hub need small amount of power, 2.2a or greater supply.
