i'm using rpi3 inside old super nintendo case emulation station, can see in picture:
i've been having connection problems wifi (speed drop-offs) , bluetooth (gamepads disconnecting), assume because of pi living inside of plastic enclosure. ran test using tl-wn722n wifi dongle connected pi (inside case well) , results better, in regards latency. working on ssh connection felt snappier using adapter.
i've seen hacks of pi3 board connect external antenna, , i've been thinking of doing same. remembered how laptop antennas work, , wondered if same pi, running antenna wire along perimeter of super nintendo case, in red dotted line in picture above. don't know how accomplish this, though.
antenna cable commonly available live. plan buy sufficiently long cable, cut both connectors, remove insulation, solder 1 end pi shown >>here<< , run wire along plastic enclosure kind of adhesive.
work, or missing something? maybe need add kind of termination antenna cable? cable length, matter @ all? (i can make loop couple times if improve things)
, last not least, bluetooth? strengthen bt connection, or pi have different antenna that?

antenna design gahhh! filthy subject. might strike lucky, wont. happens after central conductor peeks out inside screen of cable black art.
far important feature length of exposed conductor, geometry (wrapping around case going make thing weird) next , bay far wierdest cut end of screen. in simple antenna folded along incoming cable mirror central conductor.

base start know frequency wifi adapter uses, calculate wavelength (in air) , aim whole or half or quarter distance length of exposed conductor. start deliberately long , trim till improvement. trim pass through optimum , need tack bit on, or find way.....
