[Help] [First Project] Building a Pi3 based gaming handheld - Raspberry Pi Forums

hi everyone! first time poster!

i'm planning on building handheld gaming console first raspi project , have bunch of questions.

---------------

planned hardware far is:

raspberry pi 3 model b

waveshare 5" 800*480 screen (not gonna use touchscreen functionality)

3.7v cellphone battery

2 psp analogue sticks, used in pi through adafruit mcp3008 analog digital converter

2 generic tiny speakers stereo sound (don't need volume)

3.5mm headphone jack (using extension, not 1 pi. plan on using 1 of built in switch if there no headphones connected signal goes speakers)

3d printed case

---------------

questions are:

1) how thick screen-pi combo when mounted together? machine supposed portable , data can find length , width.

2)how can power pi (5v) , charge battery? powerboost 500c , 1000c perfect solutions if output more 1a. saw thread guy measured pi 3's power consumption while gaming , got 600mah or result. true?

3) there alternative
adafruit mcp3008 analog digital converter can use? 1 has 8 channels (theoretical support 4 analog sticks) while need half of (4 channels - 2 sticks)

4) suggestions make build slim , cheap possible? specific way of arranging parts? slimming down pi or useless since it's gonna attached screen anyways? welcome

thank lot in advance reading!!! :d i'm lost right now.

there's chip called mcp3004. believe handles 2 joysticks.

think if need more room, slimming down pi option. say, if need 2 usb ports , no ethernet jack, go ahead , remove don't need. same if don't need hdmi.

luck. :)
