Reading AD7745 with Arduino Mega 2560

i trying read 1pf ceramic cap using ad7745 (datasheet. talking chip arduino mega 2560 via i2c. code has been borrowed post modifications needed: reading ad7747. when read out values on computer, notice high bit (@ address 0x01) read 2(tried 2 different ad7745) regardless of cap connect between exca , cin+. reading getting 1pf cap low , same reading when don't connect (parasitics?). tells me setting wrong. pointers on might doing wrong? .ino file attached
