2007 Summit Success - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support


the recent joomla! summit, held last month @ google, provided opportunity core team members consider number of project position appointments.  team supported vote appointment of johan janssens, louis landry , shayne bartlett project managers.  new appointments of project managers provides remit work in facilitation roles working group coordinators.  move takes functional roles project has been working interim phase more formal structure.

we take opportunity recognize 3 champions of open source.  core team members david gall, emir sakic , rey gigataras stepping down core team positions.  david, worked in translations , on several open source matters issues, moving forward personal goals.  emir, history project goes mambo days — rey — has range of projects on boil.  , finally, rey, stalwart 'mr fixit' of mambo , joomla! off pastures new.

the summit provided opportunity core team , open source matters board of directors scope out range of significant functional issues.  process involved discussion , debate of key issues guidance facilitated hand-picked experts.  licensing discussion of primary importance, given forthcoming release of joomla! 1.5.  more information released progress made.  we're making progress of james vasile of thesoftware freedom law center — not there yet.  have concrete, start external communication of progress.  moreover, working improve our communication channels discussed , we've decided endeavor put out monthly reports blog posts working groups.

the combined summit , [url=http://google-code-updates.[url banned].com/2007/05/joomladay-usa-west-at-google.html]joomla!day usa (west)[/url] provided amazing focus core members , community interaction.  there's no substitute face-to-face meetings , collaboration.  event of scale not have happened without generous support of google — special leslie hawthorn creating opportunity, great food , opening googleplex open source geeks.  we'd thank allen gunn aspirationtech facilitating summit.  last not least, we'd thank community ... mom , pop hobbyists professional website developers.  interesting bunch indeed.  key part of open source recipe, community thinking paramount our considerations.
