Thread: Cannot start JACK to use Creox c for my guitar

hey everyone, 3-day ubuntu noob here, loving far!

running karmic , have encountered tiny issue. cannot seem mixer recognize input levels sb live platinum's line2 livedrive. can't jack start can use creox c. below comp , steps i've taken.

here's setup (laughs totally welcomed):
(most equipment circa 2001ish)
asus p4t motherboard last bios produced it.
p4 1.7ghz , 1 gb of rambus
200gb hdd
52x generic cd-rom
plextor plexwriter 40/12/40x
nvidia geforce2 mx 200 agp 4x card 64 big ones
sb live! platinum live drive (line2/mic2 inputs - part need with)

able use alsamixer turn levels on "line livedrive" slider , sound through speakers. clean guitar go! doesn't register levels in preferences > sound though, no matter input select, using "analog stereo duplex." tried "analog stereo output + analog mono input"... no dice.

installed jack , creox c guitar effects, when open jack control , click start (searched step), in log:

stumped. ideas? have no idea search @ point. "operation not permitted" hinting @ needing sort of root command, yes?

in advance can help!

rt kernel stuff bit on head, i'll try anyway.
personally, use jack without realtime unchecking "realtime" checkbox in setup (on settings tab, under parameters).

if rt kernel option isn't appearing in boot list, should able add manually bit of effort, i'll need bit more info first...
open teminal (applications>accessories>terminal) , type:

find /boot/*rt cat /boot/grub/grub.cfg

and post results.
