Two way communication between ardunio's

hi! i'm having quite few issues particular part of project.

so have 2 ardunio boards, uno (embedded in romeo control board dfrobot) , mega2650.

i'm trying send , receive variables between them. variables integers between 0-255. i'm not expert , simple , easy implement code. have attempted use easy transfer after few days of fiddling still not working on system.

so need way of transferring multiple integer variables on serial. im not afraid use i2c inexperienced , have ultrasonic sensor setup , working on it, , rather not tamper working perfectly.

the examples in serial input basics suitable. 3rd example reliable.

it easy make sending arduino match expected format.
