Thread: CD Integrity Check Failed


hi guys,

have windows xp running on intel celeron 1.7ghz machine 512 mb ram , 40 gb hdd 4 partitions of 10 gb each.

new linux , wanted try using live cd. but, mistake downloaded
alternate cd, went ahead , tried install ubuntu 9.10 yesterday.
got karmic-alternate-i386.iso image bunt cd , tried boot ubuntu.
after passing thru' language , keyboard detect steps, got following error.

there problem reading data cd-rom. please make sure in drive. if retrying not work, should check integrity of cd rom.
failed copy file cd rom.
retry?
yes / no.

please let me know error mean. there issue cd-rom
or image burnt or iso file downloaded , there fix issue?
please me, curious see how ubuntu 9.10 desktop looks.........

tried option of "check cd defects" , after time, got following error "cd integrity check failed". mean. downloaded iso file seems correct did md5 checksum , matched found ubutnu's official site. should try burn iso image again on cd?

also, burnt 1 @ 8x speed, lowest speed available nero 6 version burner software in windows xp. but, see forums cd should burnt @ 4x speed. necessary? how can burn nero? there other freeware available burn image cd @ 4x?

please help. also, let me know how verify burnt cd's md5 check sum windows xp? steps find in ubuntu's site running lunux , have terminal opened checking integrity of cd drive.

you need burn new cd. instead of using nero try iso recorder or infra recorder. free , work well. sure burn cd @ slowest possible speed.

when boot cd run option check disc defects.
if still fails md5sum check, try downloading iso different mirror. if iso passed md5sum check though. might consider using different brand cdr media if still fails md5sum check. use cdr, , not cdrw. have seen cdrws fail md5sum check after have been rewritten lot of times.
