using a wireless doorbell as a switch - Raspberry Pi Forums

hello everyone,

first time poster here , need pointing in right direction me finish first raspberry pi project!

have existing battery operated wireless doorbell , circuit board has led flashes when doorbell pushed. want able use signal led switch or button press triggers raspberry pi run script.

have setup working button on breadboard takes power gpio know setup different using led connection doorbell receiver supplying power.

have 2 wires coming doorbell receiver, 1 live , 1 ground - it's battery operated , using multimeter can see there less 3v supplied led when flashes. when it's off, there no voltage supplied.

how go connecting these 2 wires gpio?

guess ground go ground pin on gpio , live wire go gpio pin set low.

when led activated, make pin high , trigger script.

assuming because voltage lower 3v, won't fry raspberry pi doing this?!

new , think right wanted check on here first before shouldn't!

much. :)

hi.

perfect case using opto-isolator.

connect led side wires door bell , transistor side pi.
