Thread: Terminal Commands for Formating,Mounting, and Browsing a second hard drive.


i running ubuntu 8.04 server , trying setup file server can store network files on it. running 2 hard drives in machine...one os , other trickily storage. questions follows:

1. best file format use doing ex. ext2, ext3, ntfs, fat, etc. commands need know accomplish this.

2. how browse second hard drive terminal server?

suggests formatting disk ntfs. way, if have move drive pc @ least accessible windows, if necessary.

format best? in terms of simple home file server, there isn't of difference among usual choices, ext2/3, ntfs, xfs, jfs, etc. advise against fat32 there file size limit of 2 gigs, if i'm remembering things correctly.
