monitor pin plus web server at the same time possible

hi,

i'm arduino novice , have question:

i planning use r3 arduino uno plus ethernet shield monitoring digital pin, each pulse changes monitored device on off , back. current state planned made available making arduino web server, publishes simple html page showing current state.

is possible, or require parallel processing, arduino not supporting?

my concern while web server serving simple html page (taking few seconds?), digital pin not monitored, , should pulse occur on digital pin during serving html page, state change not detected.

possible or not?

or there better approaches not requiring parallel processing?
