New at InDesign CS

i started working indesign cs few days ago (new job) , totally foreign me. able in word, excel, powerpoint, etc. create parts manuals, operational manuals, brochures, etc. our manufacturing plant , clients. have not yet had "honor" of creating 1 "scratch" software, having edit of in manuals. looks need find original document (50% word & 50% images need convert tif files), edit document, save pdf, open indesign, delete current information, place edited material, & re-link... going long-way-around or out there know of easier way? used being able produce "projects" on short turn-around, afraid program going slow me down significantly.

thank you,
reba

use word prepare text contents - create , apply char/para styles text - don't care layout - use word more inteligent editor notepad ;)
add info images - example "c:\images\photo_1.tif" in new paragraphs , apply parastyle "image" - can use scripts in indesign place images automagicaly ;)
edit images in photoshop , save names use in text

create new document in indesign - set document size, margins, etc.
place text - reflow it, redefine paragraph , character styles (set font, point size, leading, language, etc.)
place images - manually or script
