Thread: post-removal script returned error exit status 127

hi all,

have problem when installed swi-prolog. first step clean installation of ubuntu 9.10 64-bits. went on installing different software. first, installed eclipse, second, when installing swi-prolog problems appear.

select swi-prolog (and other packages swi-prolog-xpce or swi-prolog-odbc). time installation finished giving following error message:

e: /var/cache/apt/archives/swi-prolog-clib_5.6.64-2_amd64.deb: subprocess new post-removal script returned error exit status 127
e: /var/cache/apt/archives/swi-prolog-http_5.6.64-2_amd64.deb: subprocess new post-removal script returned error exit status 127
e: /var/cache/apt/archives/swi-prolog-odbc_5.6.64-2_amd64.deb: subprocess new post-removal script returned error exit status 127
e: /var/cache/apt/archives/swi-prolog-semweb_5.6.64-2_amd64.deb: subprocess new post-removal script returned error exit status 127
e: /var/cache/apt/archives/swi-prolog-sgml_5.6.64-2_amd64.deb: subprocess new post-removal script returned error exit status 127

have no idea why time swi-prolog installation result unsuccessful. read , tried several solutions discussed on different sites on web none of them worked. example, downloading other packages or executing following command:
dpkg --remove --force-remove-reinstreq swi-prolog-odbc

or other similar versions apt-get.. etc

after trying different stuff read things seem worse now. how can fix this? happend because there necessary package (or software) missing @ time installed it? there permission problem?

if have clues problem more welcome.

in advance.
laura

please run
code:
 apt-get install swi-prolog
