i have fresh atmega 16u4-au. learned has factory set bootloader allows upload hex files on usb using atmel flip programmer. setup basic circuit usb connections(uvcc, ugnd,d+,d-, ucap etc). have attached external 16mhz crystal. unable device detected computer. later on researching bit, came know had ground hwb pin activate bootloader. did , still no good. there i'm missing. necessary connect vcc pins 5v. ground pins internally shorted, vcc pins not so. need connect vcc pins 5v.
