Too Joomla! or not to Joomla!: DNN is the question - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support

let me preface post saying intent not start infamous pee-ing contests arise when asks constructive advice on 1 thing or or on competing products.  merely looking advice people have experience both platforms.  housecleaning out of way...

i somehow stumbled upon vwd few months ago , thought build few sites using asp.net scratch. 'drop-and-drag' controls made easy. while software great , quite intuitive, lacked skills needed wire , customize way want.  how during struggles, stumbled upon dnn.  wow, after saw video on how easy basic site , operable, hooked. spent couple days trying login feature , act way wanted using vwd; spent 2 minutes dropping , dragging module using dnn.  whole new world opened up.

my experience dnn still being measured in weeks, though have been putting serious time in trying speed.  paid subscription dnncreative, watched videos, active in forums on internet solve basic problems.  going well.  hell, laid out $90 clams on skin like, unlike cheap b*stard am. read guidebook after guidebook, article after article on long 2 hour train ride work each day (each way!). i'm feeling pretty already...

here's rub:  have 0 c, c++. c+++++, c#, vb, js, css, et al, experience.  was, however, superstar @ basic , spell name , make flash using assembly language on apple iie.  :) i've written number of small programs/games on timex sinclair, trs-80, , commodore 64, though :) ....just haven't kept times, guess. did learn html old fashion way decade ago using notepad (before found hot dog pro long ago) , using ftp , spamming refresh button technique monitor changes. can work dreamweaver pretty well, bit closer times. :)

therefore, dnn want, must purchase modules, have no problem doing.  when attach price tag trying do, these modules adding up, given inability customize myself. able entire site wired , looking good, lack main aspect of trying do:

--a series of forms save records database once users complete fields, second pane allows users query submissions.
--a "tell-a-friend" referral system isn't basic mailto: in simple link form freebie modules.  rather have spot email address , submit button , preconstructed email relayed intended recipient.
--a survey system allows me tie response login demographics of respondent (terp, 35, dc, married, poor, yes response), etc, stored during registration.
--and opt-in/opt-out newsletter feature few checkboxes (or radio buttons) different newsletter genres add people subscriber list future mailings.
--and not sure how done (but seen before), ability have email sent clicks on affiliate link..perhaps second login account track links they've clicked on , purchases made...hard explain, have seen done on site using .php.  click on referral link go to, say, bestbuy.com, follow-up email saying clicked on it...and if made purchase, follow-up email in week or (perhaps being done manually, given volume, suspect otherwise).

add , looking @ $498.17 in modules.

i host on godaddy start, given cheap hosting (i know, know, what...) lots on bandwidth little money..and trust them enough, based on reputation have built, not go out in garage , ghost code off server , throw site steals bazillion dollar idea!  ..but digress.

anyway, saw thread joomla! on here other day , did homework.  there ton of free modules out there want....customizable forms tied sql db allows user queries, tell-a-friend want, weather modules, mapping modules, newsletters, free amazon affiliate modules (or component, jargon still new me joomla!).  envision costs going down near nothing.

so subject @ hand, here's debating:

1.) both platforms seems use heavy js; one, however, more seo ready other out of box? i've seem human , search engine friendly sites using joomla!  1 of biggest concerns, second cost of modules.
2.) there benefits using asp.net platform on .php? .net future , going kill .php, better in early?
3.) given needs, 1 more suited me other?
4.) ease of deployment host , ease construct site offline, upload host server.

i trying avoid time (and capital) commitment learning new platform, given have investment in dunn already.  :)

i admin controls i've seen in joomla!  pretty slick interface, don't need eye candy, guess....just observation.

so in short:

which easiest learn--.php or asp.net?
which more search engine friendly?
which easiest total newbies 0 programming experience using today's languages?
which easiest work offline, upload host (and easiest wire db built using local db)?

1) imo, php. there lot more basic php tutorial sites out there.
2) joomla! can seo friendly components. (opensef, 404sefx, etc.)
3) joomla! very easy. programming skills not required @ all. not html or css.
4) not sure.
