so me , 2 other people attempting make message board using dotstar strips , raspberry pi 3 b. understand how spi protocol works led strips, can't figure out how it'd work 9 different strips working together. me on this?

there 2 ways deal multiple spi devices
1. daisy chaining - mosi pin of 1 device connected miso pin of another, clk , cs pins shared. if each device needs 8 bits of data , have 4 devices, send 32 bits of data.
2. single master - multiple slave - miso, mosi , clk pins shared devices each has separate cs pin connection master. select each device individually, send data , move on next.
mode use, depends on led strips support.
