Thread: Target filesystem doesn't have sbin/init

hi !

i've quite big problem right now. i've searched, , solutions pretty old ( version 6 ... ) i'm reposting:

after i've done upgrade jaunty karmic, can't boot. (well, last one, can't boot, i'm not quite sure)

anyway, here error:
target filesystem doesn't have sbin/init

busybox v.1.1.3

/bin/sh: can't access tty; job control turned off

(initramfs)

solution #1:
i've used ubuntu 7.04 live cd boot , try edit /boot/grub/menu.lst . i've tried remove uuid , use path:

root=/dev/sda1

changed nothing (the uuid right.

solution #2:
still on live cd, i've tried mount /dev/sda1/ , , this:
sudo chroot /media/disk
sudo aptitude reinstall ubuntu-minimal

after, i've checked in /media/disk/sbin/ , have file named "init".

still have same error. should ?
why can't boot correctly using last kernel ?

help, hope find solution soon...
