i have optical distance sensor (http://www.ifm.com/products/nz/ds/o1d100.htm) professionally installed electrician , wired arduino uno. readouts integer range in logs wanting know if correct laser sensor use , if can carry on. @ moment logs returned data seems quite random. analog input docs on arduino specs should range between 0-1024.

perhaps "professional electrician" did not know or doing. professional have left working installation , have explained how works.
