being able to edit files on cPanel - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support

i learning jooma, installed locally (standalone, jsas) took plunge , (finallly, thru hoster's patience , help) have 'out there' seems little different. instance, did silly thing when exploring cpanel, specifiaclly 'filemanager', changed background colour in index.html (long story why). before, able click on file, , choose right columng in file manager, options, including 'edit css;...so did.  things (had problems) right column gone, no edit option, can't change colouir back!!  don't seem have permission edit files, how change this
please?  i've seen on here changing permissions 777 or something, wasn't relevant me @ time so....(yes, i'm awful  8))

hello fellow rochenite?

in cpanel have tried changing permissions first 777?  remember change 644 when you're done editing...big security risk leave index files @ 777. installing joomlaxplorer extention. let edit things within joomla backend.
