i'd pass value asp page & use populate field on existing pdf form. in searches, i've found references fdf , "toolkit" . however, didn't find how set fdf on server , wonder if need toolkit pass value existing form on server.
do _need_ toolkit - esp. since costs $$?
if don't need tookit, how 1 set , fdf on server?
can point me in right direction finding comprehensive info on fdf?

fdf toolkit not server solution merge data pdf's. adobe form server & document server products on server side merge data directly pdf. in case of fdf, toolkit allows create fdf data stream can sent end-user (either browser or reader). inside fdf link pdf. there content type fdf browser uses execute reader plugin, load pdf , merge data fdf on client.
as far know, adobe moving away positioning toolkit server-side functionality wont able toolkit unless contact adobe directly.
you dont need toolkit. if know xml @ all, can use xml variant of fdf - xfdf simple use. there still link specification on adobe's site http://partners.adobe.com/public/developer/en/xml/xfdf_2.0_draft.pdf
