LiveCycle/Acrobat Application Error

hi,

just installed acrobat 8 pro livecycle designer 8.0
version 8.05.2073.1.374024

i've constructed simple one-page form. has text fields, check boxes, 1 drop-down list, , 3 date/time fields.

when go preview pdf tab, goes fine until try either drop-down list or 1 of date/time fields. then, windows error message:

adobe acrobat: acrobat.exe - application error
the instruction @ "0x2981d30b" referenced memory @ "0x00008006". memory not read.

interestingly, if publish form , open in acrobat, , try set reader rights users can save filled-in form, same crash , error message.

background:
os: windows xp pro
the installer file downloaded adobe lws site not run. our corporate provided installer did.

conclusion: help? suggestions appreciated. thanks.
