Thread: Installation Issue with monitor

im trying install ubuntu os on desktop pc, , goes language selection screen, ubuntu icon screen, goes blank....ive tried on 2 different monitors same result (a 42" lcd tv pc input, , simple 14" monitor) on monitor gives me "attention: out of range". after few shuts down pc , ejects boot cd. i'm sure retarded on end. should remove nvidia card , go onboard video on mobo? thanks!

hi - i'm getting same problem:

tried installing livecd, after choosing install @ ubuntu menu , seeing little way bootup process, monitor blacks out "mode out of range" error (just if i'd chosen resolution high display settings).

instead tried alternative cd, , installed through text-only system. after asked me reboot , continue, same problem.

i've tried running in safe graphics mode, , i've 'use driver cd' option, in each case loses monitor in same place.

can use recovery mode log in text-only, , i've trawled of forums nothing has worked far. suggestions? had ubuntu 8 sucesfully installed on machine, might try reinstalling i'd prefer have v9!

thanks

ps - machine p4 3.06 ghz packard bell, card nvidia geforce 7300 gt.
