i installed package gdesklets earlier see after finding in add/remove programs menu.
didn't (not saying not program) while installing debconf first configuration box came up. exited saw no reason why should open on trying remove package gdesklets came , crashed , synaptic saying program not removed.
firstly why did debconf pop , secondly how clean files left behind?
i have no idea debconf point in question, uninstall try reinstalling, noting other dependencies brings in, use synaptic "completely remove" installed. try use status button on left of synaptic window, , choose "not installed (residual config)" , see if can rid of bits left behind. see screenshot details, in case don't know available.
