How can I use a speedometer to measure acceleration?

i bought reed switch magnet measure wheel's rotation per minute. i'm using arduino convert rotations/minute miles per hour wheel.

any way can store rotation data measure acceleration, also?

for example, if rotations/min start increasing on 10 second span, i'd output else.

would love see if knows!

by definition, acceleration = (change in speed)/(time change)
