Zebra RS232 Label Printer ZM400

i have built project work reads speaker lines , tests continuity. once test complete print time, date, , part number on thermal label gets put on wiring harness.  have tried using common thermal printer labels sparkfun. while kind of works, print starts dark on left , right side light , unreadable. if print on thermal receipt paper works fine.  i'd able connect our company's zebra label printer.  have rs232 shield , connect mega zebra via rs232 shield.

9 pin null modem serial cable or standard 9 pin cable null modem adaptor

note: printer has 9 pin female connector.

overview

the z -series printer comes standard 9 pin dte serial connector. use serial connection following parameters must matched between host , printer.

baud rate
data bits
parity
host handshake

a null modem cable required signals routed between host , printer.

once configured printer should function without problems zpl (or epl) data should received without corruption , handshaking prevent buffer overrun.


any appreciated!
 

what's problem ?  seem have hardware required.

note need output zpl (zebra programming language) code printer not accept , print normal ascii text.
