quote marks

hi,

for reason when type quote marks set straight quote marks (like inch symbol). i've been doing using glyph find/change change instances of when insert more text when type directly keyboard inserts straight quote again rather curly one. how can type in curly 1 everytime?

edit > preferences > type , select checkbox "use typographer's quotes." no documents open make default new work, you'll need doc doc existing stuff.
