don't connect 2 commons, treat bipolar , use 754410 2 h-bridges.  since
the motor 7v , 754410 loses few volts ideally want 10v supply capable of
the maximum current (which depends on whether use both windings @ once or not).

that web pages tells how treat motor bipolar if read it...

if motor rated 1a 1 winding driven, should derate 0.7a if driving
both windings (suggesting lower supply voltage).
