running windows xp, serv pk 2, creative suite cs3, updates.
heres deal: having problems pdfs printing , ripping when using transparencies , drop shadows.
issue 1: indd cs3 file transparent pdf placed image. separate frame filled paper, stroke , drop shadow placed under trans pdf file. filled frame areas of percentage tint using pantone color used on same page. file re-pdfed (compat v6) , file printed correctly xerox 7760 , hp color. pdf views correctly. recommended ordering policy applied layers keep drop shadow below text. problem: user running acro 7 printing same color printers, receives copy color tint areas missing.
issue 2: indd cs3 file solid pantone color on background. several text frames layered above. under text frame solid box solid drop shadow. pdfed using acro 8. problem: user's rip , digital presses not recognize drop shadow? white knockout box appears in area.
it seems cs3 handling transparency issues differently and/or acro 8 (compat v6) doing different. acro 8 users have no problem printing or pdfing.
could "known issue" of transparencies , pantone colors? testing out converting colors cmyk.
please respond @ earliest.

ken,
if final output xerox, can't print spot colors without converting them cmyk, should use process colors instead.
