use a value from from for a select statement

hello all!

it seems pretty simple question, can't find answer, or i'm not looking in right area.

i have form, has employee number user fills in. have connection created sql 2005. want call employee number empnumtxt part of select statement. when employyes number put in, displays name of person.

select empname emptable "the text box on form" = empnumber.

how call value in text box?

hi jim,

if understand asking proper naming syntax textfield added form.

1) in script editor position cursor want textfield object proper name.

2) move mouse pointer on textfield on form , hold down ctrl key. mouse pointer turn "v" shape. click textfield object , paste proper naming syntax cursor positioned in script editor.

if misunderstood conveying please explain further.
