Microsoft fires first shot of patent war against open source - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support
microsoft has come out saying "open source" violates number of patents; see story here:

i interested hear feedback jooma! community how think claim may affect our ongoing use of joomla! ourselves , our customers. joomla! 1 of targeted open-source projects? microsoft consider litigating against linux/open-source users/businesses, in addition distributors?
my take act of desperation company beginning realize cannot compete on many core levels open-source movement, , patents claim hold on open source either invalidated prior art, or open-source community work implement alternative methods not violate patents. however, these processes (especially former) take quite time resolve ...
microsoft still master @ fud, , wonder if i'm going start encountering clients are gun-shy going joomla! (or other open-source software matter) because of potential risk of litigation and/or licensing fees microsoft. ("you know, safer if go sharepoint.")
