Thread: Shrinking EXT3 partition in Gparted not working

so want shrink ext3 partition 900gb 500gb , make ntfs bigger on 1tb hdd. problem when boot live cd has gparted (ubuntu 9.10 or gpart 0.4.8.6 live cd) not shrink ext3 partition unallocated space in it. can shrink partitions in ext3 not ext3 partition self. don't have hdd mounted , don't want try shrink in terminal.

you not making sense, ext3 partition cannot have "partitions in ext3". if want shrink extended partition must unmount partitions inside of , move of partitions away boundary want shrink.
