solved todays 2.4.4 release of sytsem76 driver

if you're still running 9.04...

first, complete backup of important information before upgrading. upgrade 9.10 has been rough 1 around, , should prepared in case upgrade fails.

second, run 9.04 system updates , reboot.

third, upgrade 9.10 using instructions here...

if running 9.10...

first, go system > update manger , run system updates before running 2.4.4 version of system76 driver.

go system > system76 driver , click install drivers tab , install button.

reboot, , wireless fixed.

if you've done fresh install of ubuntu 9.10...

first, run system updates before running system76 driver.

second, download , install 2.4.4 version of driver from...

third, go the system76 driver , click restore tab , restore button. reboot computer.

if own starling netbook , running 9.04, please stay there now. upgrade 9.10 break wireless, , not have fix in place yet.

if you've upgraded 9.10, we've released 2.4.0 verion of system76 driver, provides short-range wireless capabilities starling until finished working on full-scale fix. working hard on fix, , deliver possible via system76 driver update.

please subscribe thread updated on further developments.

if still running 9.04 , having wireless difficulties, please read this...

establish wired internet connection. go administration > update manager. click "check" button, , install updates. reboot computer.

go administration > system76 driver. click "install" tab , "install" button. when driver finishes, reboot computer.

wireless led should on, , should able see wireless access points. if cannot, there spring-loaded toggle switch on right-hand side of leading edge of starling. toggle *once* right, , release it. now, reboot computer.

for optimal wireless performance until 9.10 fix completed, can re-install ubuntu netbook remix 9.04. instructions here...

we have technician deployed ubuntu developers summit try , permanent fix in place. i'll post here progress hear more.
