Thread: Java installation problems

i using ubuntu 64 bit 9.10 64 bit version of firefox. have followed instructions given here:

until step 14 (on right side of page) command is:

ln -s /opt/java/64/jre1.6.0_17/lib/amd64/libnpjp2.so ~/.mozilla/plugins/

, following error:

ln: accessing `/home/bob/.mozilla/plugins/': not directory

know problem is? notice in 64 bit version of ff "plugins" not seperate folder file in ~/.mozilla directory, if makes difference. tried leaving final "/" off link command didn't work either? suggestions?

did - mkdir ~/.mozilla/plugins - in step 11?
