having problem shutting down ubuntu system. dual booting windows 7 , ubuntu -9.10. problem when restart ubuntu. goes black screen , hangs(does not poweroff). if give shutdown ubuntu, shuts down perfectly!!! done?

i had similar problem few ubuntu versions ago , fixed permanently updating bios. using latest version available computer?
