Modules, Sections, Categories - I don't get it? How do you show content? - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support

sorry.  i've searched.  i've read entire manual of 1.0... i've read 1.5 chapter 11.  can't head around joomla.

i have created sections, categories , content inside categories.  understand links part.  don't showing content.  way can see show content creating module.  way?  doing .

is there not way content show tell joomla "show 'this content' here". think i'm not understanding fundamental basics or something. 

i ask because trying incorporate design template client.

the standard way of showing content selecting yes --> frontpage - article show in home page(frontpage). way create menu , link either section or category or content item.
