Thread: Locked CLI Screen

dear forum members,

i'm trying find way lock cli screen i'm afraid can't seem find way this. think might because there many search return graphically locking screen. i'm running ubuntu server cli interface only. set each server local screen displaying live information system.

iftop example. have iftop running not want leave system in state cancel the program , use account logged machine. ideally set system running , have secret key combo prompts me login credentials. not essential run server nice have system want monitor continuously display info can glance across room , instantly see info.

would solve immediate problem of not leaving session open.

eye candy, can find ncurses- or framebuffer-based screensavers.

programs can run in background still send output screen - when you're logged out.
i've seen happen, know it's possible, don't know if program this.
