i'm thinking of buying first pi retro gaming build. raspberry pi 3 quite impressive cost , may suit needs.
i'm considering holding off until february see if there 2017 upgraded release.
i've seen other wishlist/speculation threads locked due personal attacks, don't see why can't attempt have civil , reasonable speculation/wishlist thread.
i've read in other threads not expect real upgrade pi 3 3 years or so, foundation has had major releases in 2012, 2014, 2015 , 2016. after initial gap of 2 years, they've had @ least 1 model release year past 3 years. trend suggests there @ least 1 new model/upgrade next year.
of frequent requests seem best handled accessories aren't needed cases, or raise per unit costs beyond goal of foundation.
i'm curious people think reasonable guesses @ might see next year,
given popularity of pi in media servers , gaming systems, i'd see bump in gpu portion of soc (which apparently hasn't changed @ since 2012). i'm hoping new gpu bring better gaming performance, h265 support, perhaps hdmi 2.0 support. 4k, etc.

buy pi3 now, work it, design project. when new 1 arrives in future buy , drop project advanced. back-compatible.
